Paint Bath and More
The Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, Maine celebrates the beauty of Bath and More on Saturday, August 11, 2007. On that day more than thirty of Maine’s artists will spread out around Bath, painting the landscape, buildings, and scenes that make Bath unlike any other community. You are invited to come and discover this special day captured on canvas in the varied styles, perspectives, and media these fine artists bring to the day.
A reception will be held at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington Street, Bath, Maine from 4:00 to 7:00. The paintings will be on display and can be purchased at a silent and live auction, with celebrity auctioneer, Diane Moyer. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. Tickets for the reception are $15.00 and are available at the Chocolate Church Arts Center Box Office, at 442-8455, Tuesdays through Saturday, noon to four. Tickets are also available by contacting Judy Tilson, at 442-7942.
Scenes and locations from which artists may choose include gardens, cityscapes, river scenes, marshes, ocean and much more. This is a rain-or-shine event. Artists are permitted to take photos of their selected location prior to the event date however the works must be created on the day of the event. Designated and protected places to paint from the photo will be provided in the case of rain.
Among the artists participating are Anne Gable Allaire, Claudette Gamache, Victoria Jackson, Caryn Harri, Prentice Weiss, Jean Wyman, Ann Marie Therrien, Claire Vigneau, Steven Perkins, Sukey Heard, and more than twenty others.
Throughout the day wander the streets of Bath. Follow the locator map and discover the creative process. Watch the artists work and learn about their inspirations. In the late afternoon - join the artists for the reception and auction. All proceeds go to benefit the Chocolate Church Arts Center. The Chocolate Church Arts Center was established over thirty years ago to present the finest visual and performing arts to the Midcoast Maine area and to preserve its home, the exquisite 1847Gothic Revival Church at 798 Washington Street, Bath, Maine.
