Anne Gable Allaire is a full-time professional artist and Master Panelist living and working in Kennebunk, Maine. She begain drawing and painting at an early age, pursuing drawing and painting classes and entering art competitions.
After graduation from High School, formal education includes Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa (1963-64), A Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska (1964-67) with a Majors in Interior Design and Painting. Continuing Fine Arts education includes classes in Pastel and Oil Painting at the Portland School of Art (now the Maine College of Art), Portland, Maine (1987-89). Anne also continues to supplement her own creative process by taking selected workshops.
Allaire’s professional background includes working from 1968-1974 as an Interior Designer. After college she worked as the Head of the Interior Design Department of an architectural firm in St. Paul, Minnesota; then as a Designer with several design firms in the Detroit, Michigan area. All of these firms specialized in corporate and commercial interiors. Responsibilities with these firms included interior design work as well as placing artwork in offices, hospitals, banks and corporate offices around the United States.
After moving to Maine in 1979, Allaire’s interior design consulting continued and her interest in painting was renewed. While continuing to paint, she worked as the Assistant Director or River Tree Arts, a non-profit community arts organization in Kennebunk, Maine (1995-97). She served as a member of the River Tree Arts Gallery Committee, Vice President of the Pastel Painters of Maine and is a member of local and national Art organizations.
Allaire now paints full-time and has painted with pastels since the age of twelve. Although she has also worked in oils, charcoal, pen and ink and pencil, Anne loves pastels and it is currently her medium of choice. In 2006, Allaire was named a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America.
