I am a realistic landscape and still life painter. In the summer, I enjoy painting outside (plein aire) and in the winter, with my camera and photographs, inside. My experience as a Graphic Artist helps me to arrange and organize my subject matter.
Pastels are made with pure pigment and mixed with just enough binder to hold them in “stick” form. The purity of the color is ever lasting. The pigment is applied directly to the paper, which is fine sandpaper. The paper grabs the color and gives immediate results, which is very satisfying. You can draw with pastel, as well as paint. You can mix color right on the paper and apply layer upon layer. Pastels allow me the opportunity to paint the play of light and dark, form and texture, to achieve balance and design.
