A native of Harpswell, I returned to my roots in 1991 to paint the things I love – the strong, contrasting colors of nature, and the incredible effects of light and shadow here in Maine.
During the intervening thirty-three years from Harpswell to Harpswell, I was employed at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. During that time, I was active in the Upper Merion Cultural Center, serving on the Board of Directors, and attending art classes and workshops.
On my return to Maine, I joined the Casco Bay Art League and enjoyed learning experiences in watercolor with Maine artists Carlton Plummer, Dale Lewis, Michael Vermette, and DeWitt Hardy. Also, workshops with Joy Shott, Betty Lou Schlemm, Robert Wade, and David Curtis. Three years ago I began working with pastels with Kathleen Gallighan, and have been further inspired by Claudette Gamache.
I have exhibited paintings in juried shows at the Chocolate Church, and with CBAL at Curtis Memorial Library, Sebasco Lodge, Bailey Island Library, Harpswell Garden Club, Thornton Oaks and a One-Woman Show at Gallery Framing in Brunswick. I have won Second and Third place awards with The Pastel Painters of Maine. My work is in many private collections.
Other interests include sewing, knitting, playing handbells with The Chapel Ringers at First Parish Church in Brunswick, and gardening, the latter doing battle with my painting time.
