Victoria (Tory) Jackson grew up in Boston and graduated from Wheaton College in 1975. After honing her skill working for several agencies in the field of interior design, she began a career as a freelance interior designer, specializing in kitchen design and space planning. The year 1995 found her moving to Maine where she purchased an old farmhouse with a very big garden.
Victoria was Gallery Manager for Minerva’s Bounty, a gallery of fine arts and crafts, where she coordinated exhibitions, liaised with local artists and artisans. She previously worked with The Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath, Maine, serving as interim coordinator from November 2002 to May 2003.
Tory has been involved in the arts all of her life. Shortly after moving to Maine, she returned to painting after years of photography as her visual art form. She now works full-time in watercolor, oil and watercolor painting and exhibiting.
She currently studies oil painting with Carolyn Judson and watercolor with Evelyn Dunphy. Victoria has also studied pastel with Claudette Gamache, Sally Loughridge, Jeannie Fine, Anne Heywood, Terry Ludwig, Richard McKinley, Sergei Oussik, and watercolor with Liz Messler, Judith Kinsman.
Her work can be found at several area organizations from time to time, including The Chocolate Church Arts Center, Bath, Maine; Just Framing (Gallery); Brush and Easel, Damariscotta; Art in the Park during Heritage Days in Bath; and during Bath’s 3rd Friday Art Walks at the Cosmopolitan Club. Her pastel works are in private collections in San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Edgartown, MA; and Bath, ME.
Family, travel and gardening keep Victoria inspired, and she loves sharing and finding art among them all.
